Biography

          Matthias Müller is Professor  at the Zurich University of the Arts and has gained a reputation as a versatile artist and is active as an international interpreter, composer and teacher as well as the Artistic Director of various institutions. He received a broad musical training at the Basel Musikakademie; his most important teacher was Hans Rudolf Stalder. He has performed as a soloist with renowned orchestras such as the Zurich Tonhalle Orchestra, the Tchaikovsky Symphony Orchestra Moscow, the Orchestra Sinfonica di Milano. Matthias Müller gives regularly master classes over the whole world such as at the Juillard School and Manhattan School of Music (New York), Rice University (Houston), Royal Northern College of Music (Manchester). He composed around 20 pieces for clarinet among others. His last pieces: 6 Etudes de concert  and the clarinet concerto are recorded by neos. Matthias Müller has written an instructional work for the clarinet (claritop). At the Institute for Computer Music und Sound Technology  he is in charge of the research project ‘Sensor Augmented Bass Clarinet’, an instrument that is playable in the usual way but also allows a computer to be controlled. Regular contacts with New York and USA brings him together with important musicians like Eddie Daniels, David Taylor, Daniel Schnyder, etc. He is the first President of the new European Clarinet Association.  Recordings and compositions on: www.matthias-mueller.ch .
