Tribute to Benny Goodman Concerts with
Clarinetist Sal Andolina and the Buffalo Philharmonic Pops
Buffalo, New York USA
A special set of commemerative concerts honoring the 'King
of Swing' was held encompassing the full
Philharmonic featuring Bass Clarinetist and renowned jazz Clarinetist
Sal Andolina, who performed an extensive
array of original music of his time along with arrangements including
full Orchestra. Program information is above
in the galleries. Mr Andolina's background includes direct
connection with Mr Goodman which has had a profound
influence on his playing jazz approaches. The main hall at Kleinhans
Music Hall was sold out both nights. Information

Stockholm Clarinet Summit
Stockholm, Sweden
This summit was held at the beautiful venues of Nordiska Musikgymnasiet, a leading school for pre-education for
young artists.
The summit was very intensive and everyone had a good time and learnt very much.
The participants consisted of players from amateurs to professionals.
We had concerts that featured klezmer, Swedish folk music, and ensemble
(clarinet choir) Stefan Harg and Katarina Ström-Harg played a concert
consisting of Boulez; Domaines, Debussy; Rhapsodie, Brahms Sonata No 2,
and Francaix Tema and Variation.
Stefan Harg also held a seminar of the Mozart clarinet concerto played on Bassett clarinet and how it’s done on
that instrument. He discussed the importance of playing with ornamentation and showed examples of this. The Basset
clarinet featured a new design made by Howarth, clarinets in collaboration with Stefan Harg. It's a lower joint that can be
fitted to any clarinet brand. In this case it was done on a Howarth S3 model.
Stefan also held a reed and mouthpiece clinic. He individually helped the participants with selecting the right set-up.
This event was sponsored by Vandoren.
Eva Rosen worked with ensembles and also with the clarinet choir.
Stefan Harg did 3 master classes with piano clarinettist playing the
repertoire of Mozart, Debussy, Brahms, Saint-Saens, Poulenc.
Jonas Näslund, the leading woodwind shop here in Sweden also did a seminar on how to take care of clarinets and
how to select instruments. Stefan and Jonas showed Vandoren’s slide show and talked about the Vandoren accessories reeds
and mouthpieces.
The event was sposored by Vandoren, Paris , Howarth, clarinets UK , Jonas

The Clarinet Summit will be back in November with guest artists from France UK and Sweden.
